La rosa del azafran letra

La rosa del azafrán (the saffron rose) complete zarzuela part 2

The zarzuela begins with the joyful beats of a Seguidilla dance in celebration of the town’s Patron Saint, and Catalina singing Aunque soy de La Mancha, no mancho a nadie, which has become a popular hymn of La Mancha. Juan Pedro, a farmer hired by the hacienda, appears with Aunque soy forastero, and then with the famous song of the sower: Canción: Cuando siembro voy cantando.

Juan Pedro had asked Catalina to marry him, she asks her mistress Sagrario for permission. Sagrario always accepts that Juan Pedro leaves the hacienda, because she did not allow the bride and groom to be under the same roof. She also did it because she felt attraction for him, and wanted to have him as far away as possible, because they were from different social classes.

Juan Pedro and other peasants want to serenade their sweethearts. Ronda sings: Hoy es sábado y no quiero dormir en la quintería (Great periods when people went to the fields to work). Moniquito, seeking to climb to the balcony of the woman he was courting with a ladder, leads the Pasacalle: Two times two is four.
