Five people chosen completely at random are kidnapped five days before Halloween night. These people, who do not know each other at all, are confined in a place called Murder World. There, the five will have to play a violent game. Its name is 31, and in it there are no rules or limits. The game simply consists of surviving for 12 hours the stalking of a horde of sinister clowns, who will try to kill anyone who gets in their way. New film by Rob Zombie (‘Halloween, the origin’, ‘The Lords of Salem’) starring Sheri Moon Zombie.

James Wan’s first genuine supernatural film of the decade, although it recovered details from his ‘Dead Silence’ (2007) and made them more commercial, picking up the trail of ‘Paranormal Activity’ (2007), the director injected his Mario Bava influences and created a 21st century classic with little money and good ideas.

Not all remakes are successful and, truth be told, George Romero has been quite lucky with his 70’s works. Even if it fails to capture any of his ideological concerns and the corrupt moral undertones of his protagonists, ‘The Crazies’ is an exemplary infected movie full of action and suspense and a tone of hopelessness that sets it apart from the rest of similar films.

Pure paranoia with echoes of Polanski, giallo and Satoshi Kon in which shines a broken Natalie Portman who manages to go from anguish to anger to fear in her internal and external metamorphosis. In turn-of-the-century New York, Professor Jarrod, a wax figure sculptor, is betrayed by his partner and burned along with his entire wax museum. But Jarrod manages to survive, while his former partner is murdered. Months later, the sculptor opens a new museum, but this time dedicated to terror and the most famous murderers.

The first on our list is directed by André De Toth, a remake of Mystery at the Wax Museum (1933) by Michael Curtiz. As a curiosity we will tell you that the film was shot to be exhibited in 3D systems, and although we have only seen it in 2D version, it has given us the same fear.
