The season 4 episode «Marge in Chains» features a sick Asian worker sneezing on a shipment of juicers that many of Springfield’s residents want to buy, which starts an outbreak of the «Osaka flu.» However, Bill Oakley, one of the show’s writers, told the Hollywood Reporter that he found it appalling and disgusting that on social media some people were using an old episode he co-wrote as yet another example that the Simpsons do indeed have the ability to predict all sorts of real-life events.
